Extreme Temperature and Hidden Gems

Hello friends,

I trust you’re all doing great. You ought to be doing great if you’re not in subzero temperature and your brain is freezing. That’s me right now. That’s my life!

Temperature

That’s the temperature where I’m at! I’m not complaining though, but I need to make a decision to love this winter and love it for real!

Anyway, today I want to share a hidden gem of a psalm that I found. My bible plan has me reading through the book of psalms and I couldn’t be more pleasantly surprised. I’m finding such lovely psalms that I literally read several times over!

Take this short paragraph for instance:

Psalm 31: 19- 20

How abundant are the good things
    that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
    on those who take refuge in you.
20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them
    from all human intrigues;
you keep them safe in your dwelling
    from accusing tongues.

Take another one, for the one too many times we fail and take the long walk of shame to the ever loving Father:

Psalm 32: 1- 6

Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
    whose sin the Lord does not count against them
    and in whose spirit is no deceit.

When I kept silent,
    my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
    as in the heat of summer.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you
    and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.

Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.

When you forget just how great your God is, read psalm 33: 18-22

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait in hope for the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
    for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
    even as we put our hope in you.

Read Psalm 34 when you want to be inspired through and through!

Because of space, I’ll shorten the psalm and highlight a few verses.

Verses 4, 5, 8-10, 15, 18-20, 22

I sought the Lord, and he answered me;

    he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
    their faces are never covered with shame.

Taste and see that the Lord is good;
    blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
    for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
    but the Lord delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
    not one of them will be broken.

22 The Lord will rescue his servants;
    no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Okay, I’ll stop here for today. Part 2 coming soon!

But before I go, here is a random slice of jello that I enjoyed immensely at lunch today.
