The Year of the Lord’s Favor

The last week of 2015 was a little difficult for me. As I tried to fight the battles in my mind, praying and envisioning my 2016, I did certain things. I read T.D. Jakes’ famous book Women Thou Art Loosed (WTAL). I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, and I especially enjoyed the thought provoking reflection and journaling questions, which came after every chapter.

I remember waking up and looking forward to reading my daily chapter of WTAL and journaling like crazy. Not only was I reading this amazing book, I was devouring sermons on self worth, and empowerment, and singlehood, and especially, on the space for women within the body of Christ.

I also attended a conference with my high school friends, and I had an absolutely amazing time. Thank God for love, laughter, and friendship!

Within two weeks, I went from sad and soppy to empowered and extremely motivated. It was a miracle, and whenever people asked me what my resolution for 2016 was, I always gave the slightly ambiguous response: “Gratitude.”

More than anything, I wanted my 2016 to be filled with little celebrations of the miracles which the Lord gives me daily. I wanted my year to be littered with little moments that make my heart smile. I wanted little moments that would inspire me to reach, to believe, and to achieve.

2016 has been all that and more.

This year, God has shown up for me and showed off with me. If you’ve been a somewhat ardent reader, you’d remember my testimony here. You’d also remember my little posts filled with praise for God.

Most importantly, I’ve been in such a good mental space, that I pinch myself because I never imagined that someone could feel this much joy and contentment.

I never really believed that I would be this okay. I never believed that things would work out this beautifully. I never believed that I would indeed, have “above and beyond” blessings.

One recent testimony is that my brother just got admitted into a dream university. Although the fees are rather high- thanks to the Naira exchange rate to the U.S. dollar-  I know that the God who brought me this far will not leave me (and my family) hanging.

God owns the earth and the fullness here in. All the silver and gold in this world are His, so really, what do I have to fear?

Last night the devil tried to steal my joy, as I spoke with my friend Priscilla. Out of nowhere, I began to lament about my brother’s fees and other financial problems. But after we prayed and I was about to sleep, I remembered God’s word to me for 2016.

You see, on one of those first days of 2016, I prayed for the Lord to show me a passage in the bible that would encapsulate His message to me for this year.

This is what He gave me. Whether or not you have time to read through the passage at this moment, I would like to ask that you take a look at this message and claim it for yourself.

Guess what book of the bible this is from, btw. If you know the correct answer, leave it in the comments section!

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

   because the Lord has anointed me

   to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

   to proclaim freedom for the captives

   and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]

2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor

   and the day of vengeance of our God,

to comfort all who mourn,

3     and provide for those who grieve in Zion—

to bestow on them a crown of beauty

   instead of ashes,

the oil of joy

   instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise

   instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness,

   a planting of the Lord

   for the display of his splendor.

4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins

   and restore the places long devastated;

they will renew the ruined cities

   that have been devastated for generations.

5 Strangers will shepherd your flocks;

   foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.

6 And you will be called priests of the Lord,

   you will be named ministers of our God.

You will feed on the wealth of nations,

   and in their riches you will boast.

7 Instead of your shame

   you will receive a double portion,

and instead of disgrace

   you will rejoice in your inheritance.

And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,

   and everlasting joy will be yours.

8 “For I, the Lord, love justice;

   I hate robbery and wrongdoing.

In my faithfulness I will reward my people

   and make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 Their descendants will be known among the nations

   and their offspring among the peoples.

All who see them will acknowledge

   that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”

10 I delight greatly in the Lord;

   my soul rejoices in my God.

For he has clothed me with garments of salvation

   and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,

as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,

   and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up

   and a garden causes seeds to grow,

so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness

   and praise spring up before all nations.

That’s it for today friends! I really hope that this encourages you and inspires you. You can experience deeper levels of joy, peace, and overall wellness.

Before you leave, enjoy this lovely picture of me. :p

New month

The Lord will give you exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you could ever have asked or imagined!

Happy New Month!

    It is good to fit into particular verses in the Holy Bible…claim good messages and take up the promises God has for His people. ….in death, we died with Him; in resurrection, we resurrected with Him…Jusus tells us ‘..in my Father’s mansion there are many rooms…’ ‘. come ye all that are heavily laden and i will give you rest…’ The moment we submit ourselves to His Will, we garner even more than we aptly deserve. God is always ready to give what He knows will be best for us. As we get closer to Him each year passing, we realise graeter love of God hitherto latently embedded in the scriptures.
    Your Bible passages are good. I key in.
